Three Websites to Help You Decorate Your New Home
October 4, 2012
After you call your Kansas City mover, fire up your laptop and get ready to start dreaming about your new home. It’s better to start planning your spaces now, so you can get settled quickly . If you’re stumped on where to start, bookmark these sites and use them to find inspiration and plan your space.
Before you go to any other site, start with Houzz.com. This inspiration hub has organized pictures from top interior designers and allows you to conveniently search by: style, space and even metro.
And, if you’re really stumped, there’s a feature that allows you to find interior designers in your area.
If you’re not addicted to Pinterest yet – it’s not too late. This visually driven site allows you to search pictures based on keywords or categories, follow friend’s interests and pins – plus save images and ideas onto ‘boards’. The first step to using Pinterest, to help you decorate your new home, is to create a board for each room. Search for colors, furniture, art or just inspirational ‘mood’ pictures – pin them into the boards to create the ‘look’ for each of your rooms. Once you have a feel for how you want the room to be designed, you can start clicking through to the pictures to see if you can purchase or DIY your favorite items.
Our last pick is a more traditional resource, but still just as good. Better Homes and Gardens does a great job organizing new design inspiration. Search under “Decorating and home ideas” and drill down into a room type or by project. You can also create an account and save your favorites so that you can reference them later!
