Two Places to get a Breath of Fresh Air in Milwaukee

After traversing the country with your Milwaukee movers and spending hours decorating, you and your family may need a breath of fresh air. Fortunately, your new home city is inundated with great outdoor areas that are perfect for Midwestern afternoon retreats. Here are a couple of nature-inspired places in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that you may want to head to.

1. Schlitz Audubon Nature Center
The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center provides you with 185 acres to roam about as you enjoy the native vegetation and abundant wildlife. You’ll pass through heavily wooded areas, pastures of flowers and various bodies of water. The Nature Center also provides activities like guided snowshoe expeditions, yoga classes, lectures by experts and great birdwatching programs. At the Birds of Prey seminar, you and the kids will also get an up-close view of eagles, owls, hawks and falcons, which have either been injured or imprinted and are non-releasable.

2. Lynden Sculpture Garden
The Lynden Sculpture Garden has a long and storied history, once belonging to the prolific Bradley family. At the turn of the 19th century, the land was converted into an English-style garden and, over the century, trees and flowerbeds were added to complement its beauty, along with a budding sculpture collection.

In 2009, the land was renovated and opened to the public, and using sustainable building practices, a classroom, studio and gallery were added. You can take a tour of the Lynden Sculpture Garden, during which a guide will show you the various works that pepper the 40 acres of land.

While Lynden is inundated with history and sculptures from the past, it also functions as a contemporary gallery, where various works from living artists are showcased.
