When the leaves change and temperatures get cooler, Minneapolis welcomes the arrival of fall with a variety of fun local happenings. Celebrate the season and have some fun this October at these upcoming events:
German Wine Festival — October 17-18
Sample a variety of traditional German wines at the German Wine Festival, held at St. Croix Vineyards in Stillwater. Enjoy delicious German food and toe-tapping live music courtesy of the Jolly Huntsmen. Admission is free.
Bach: The Cello Suites — October 18
Indulge your ears in classical music from the Minnesota Orchestra at Nicollet Mall’s Target Atrium. The orchestra will be performing Bach’s Cello Suites at 4 pm. After the performance, why not get an early start on Christmas shopping? The Nicollet Mall is famous for its spectacular array of stores.
Art When the Moon is Full: Bat Moon — October 25
Reserve your spot for Art When the Moon is Full: Bat Moon at Silverwood Park. What better time than around Halloween to search for these winged creatures? In addition to bat-spotting, participants will create a Halloween-themed clay art project. Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult, but don’t worry — this fun and spooky event is fun for all ages!
Uptown Hallow’s Eve Festival at Calhoun Square — October 26
Visit Calhoun Square on October 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a family-friendly Halloween celebration. Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating, free arts and crafts, a costume contest, pumpkin-carving and more. Hot chocolate is on the house at this event, which also features live music and a magic show.
Gangster Ghost Tour — October 29
Head to the Wabasha Street Caves for an exhilarating tour through areas where infamous gangsters and their glamorous girlfriends once committed their crimes. Some say the spirits of these gangsters — as well as the spirits of their unfortunate victims — linger on. Are gangster ghosts real? You be the judge on this fascinating tour!
