August 17, 2015
Miami is a sun-soaked oasis buzzing with vibrant energy. When you tire of the hustle and bustle of the city, stop and smell the flowers at one of Miami’s beautiful gardens. While there’s no denying the incredible allure of Miami’s beaches, these gardens offer residents and visitors an incredible encounter with the natural world.
Miami Beach Botanical Garden
Address: 2000 Convention Center Dr
This popular botanical garden boasts a wide variety of exotic flowering trees, plants and flowers. Delicate orchids in all colors bloom throughout the park, which is also dotted with tranquil water features. Don’t miss the Native Garden, an area where butterflies and hummingbirds flutter among indigenous plants and flowers. Regular events are held here, including garden yoga sessions and free theater performances.
Vizcaya Museum & Gardens
Address: 3251 South Miami Ave
You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped through time when you enter these gardens, which were inspired by the grandeur of 17th and 18th century Italy and France. Magnificent statues and fountains are situated among abundant botanical life, including trees that are hundreds of years old and rare plants you’ll likely see nowhere else. Stop by the on-site cafe and shop before you leave for a cup of coffee and some souvenirs.
Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden
Address: 10901 Old Cutler Road
Although not technically in Miami, this botanical garden in nearby Coral Gables is close enough to count. Housed here are gorgeous tropical plants, along with stunning wildlife like butterflies and exotic fish. In the Tropical Plant Conservatory and Rare Plant House, you’ll marvel at two levels of incredible plant life including ferns, orchids, vines and so much more.
