After you’ve made the big move to a new town, even simple tasks like groceries or your route to work can seem daunting. But now that our phones are getting “smarter,” there are increasingly more apps to help you get settled and acquainted. Check out this list of apps that make getting around in your new town a little easier.
Getting Around
If you don’t have access to a car, sometimes taxis are the best way to go. The app Taximagic can pull up a cab number from any city. All you do is enter your location and viola!, you can call for a taxi service to come pick you up.
Want to check out your city on bike, but don’t own one and have no idea where to buy one? No problem, just download Spotcycle, an app that helps you locate bicycle sharing stations. Most metropolitan areas have places to rent bikes, and Spotcycle will help you track them down.
Restaurants
Whether you are looking for a nice place to get your morning coffee or need a high end restaurant, Urbanspoon has a great and fun way to see what your new town holds in its culinary arsenal. Urbanspoon gives you a price range of dishes, location, and other handy info such as phone number and directions.
If you’re a foodie with a more refined palate, you might want to check out Chef’s Feed. This app has ratings of local restaurants done by world renown chefs. With rating for many of the larger cities in the U.S., this best-of-the-best app is sure to leave you satisfied with your dining experience.
